[BY REQUEST] JO JO GUNNE - BITE DOWN HARD

Jo Jo Gunne began as an outgrowth of the legendary 1960s outfit Spirit. Shortly after that band’s classic Twelve Dreams Of Dr Sardonicus album, group members Jay Ferguson and Mark Andes left to form Jo Jo Gunne with Mark's brother, Matt, on guitar and Curley Smith on percussion. The new group signed to the then-brand new Asylum Records, and over a period of two years Jo Jo Gunne released a total of four albums and several singles before disbanding.

By the time Bite Down Hard was recorded, Mark Andes had left Jo Jo Gunne for Firefall and had been replaced on bass by Jimmie Randall. Bite Down Hard continued to explore territory familiar from their first album but framed in an "FM radio-friendly" way. It features a more polished "boogie rock" production to the music with synthesizers often replacing traditional keyboards and a less frequent appearance of acoustic guitar.
